On a scale of one to ten, how much are you excited about the new album?
Nottingham singer-songwriter Jake Bugg has released his new single "Downtown" from his highly anticipated album, Saturday Night, Sunday Morning. "Downtown" features a stunning piano-based instrumental, foregrounded by Bugg's tender vocals. Bugg promises someone they will never be left alone throughout the beautiful track.
Bugg expertly guides his voice to reach notes that he's previously never even attempted to attack, and it provides "Downtown" with bundles of emotions as he reaches his hand out to an ex-lover on the track.
The idea for the beautiful track was created by his collaborator, Jamie Harman. Bugg comments "Usually, an initial spark of an idea comes from me. And when it doesn't, it sometimes loses my attention" he then added "There were a lot of moving parts and chords, it was almost like a puzzle. I'd never approached a song like that before."
Saturday Night, Sunday Morning will mark Jake Bugg's fifth studio album and is out to the public on August 20th via RCA Records. Bugg claims his forthcoming album is "the most fun he's ever had making a record."
Judging by Bugg's singles release from the record, it's promising to be a genre-shifting album that doesn't consistently stick to a particular theme or sound. This versatility is allowing Bugg to showcase the full range of his talents.
